The second book was . She flipped the page, and a happy ‘1’ stood like a tall soldier. Next to it, ‘2’ curved like a swan’s neck. Three little bunnies hopped out of the page and sat in a row. One, two, three – they wiggled their noses. Meera counted along, clapping her hands.
The next morning, at school, her teacher held up the same books. “Today,” the teacher smiled, “we’re going to ask questions, sing songs, and solve mysteries.”
