Only: Fans Hotwife

Exploring the intersection of materials, chemistry, and design.

In 2016, OnlyFans launched as a niche subscription platform for creators of all kinds—fitness trainers, chefs, musicians, and influencers—to monetize exclusive content. By 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had collapsed the boundaries between public and private life, and the platform found its supernova: adult entertainment. Today, "OnlyFans lifestyle" has become a shorthand for a specific, hyper-modern archetype: the independent creator who blurs the lines between entrepreneur, exhibitionist, therapist, and entertainer.

But to dismiss the OnlyFans lifestyle as merely "selling nudes" is to miss the tectonic shift it represents in media, labor, and the very definition of celebrity. The core product on OnlyFans is not sex—it is access . Traditional pornography is a polished, distant spectacle. The OnlyFans model, by contrast, thrives on a carefully manufactured sense of one-on-one connection.

Our Impact and Collaborations

We are proud that the Smart Materials Lab is the leading team in impactful chemistry research in the United Arab Emirates, with research output that, according to the Nature Index, accounts for 40‒60% of the total chemistry publications within the country, both in fractional count and weighed fractional count. The past and current research projects in the Smart Materials Lab have been sponsored by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Human Science Frontier Program Organization (HFSPO), and the UAE National Research Foundation (NRF), in addition to generous financial support from NYUAD and the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute. The members of the Smart Materials Lab work closely with NYUAD's Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM).
