Aqua Hoshino’s entire quest for revenge is based on finding the man who killed his mother. Aqua initially suspects his biological father is dead, but through painstaking investigation (the DNA test, the phone call, the Ai documentary), he discovers that Kamiki Rei is alive, well, and still active.

Before the twins were born, Rei was pushed (or jumped) from a cliff by Airi Himekawa, an older producer who had been sexually abusing him. He survived but was presumed dead. This event seemingly "killed" the last remnants of his humanity. He re-emerged years later under the name , having completely abandoned any moral compass.
