Panic hit. He closed the app. Reopened. Same thing. He tried logging in on another device—account banned. Support ticket denied. The forum post had vanished. Even his backup save was overwritten.

Three years. Gone.

New message from unknown number.

The editor was clunky—an old Java tool with a crude interface. It asked him to link his Supercell ID, then decrypt his village save. He hesitated. His thumb hovered over the mouse. Then he clicked Load.

He knew better. He really did.

And in that pause—between the ghost of his old village and the promise of a new one—Alex realized he wasn’t playing Clash of Clans anymore.

The game was playing him.
