A command prompt flashed for a second. Then nothing.
Leo clicked the first link. It was a clean, professional-looking page with a blue "Download Now" button. The file was called BitLocker_Activator_v2.3.exe . Only 4 MB. He double-clicked.
Leo reformatted his laptop the next day. He lost the first three chapters of his novel. He bought a Windows 10 Pro license, enabled BitLocker with a 48-character recovery key, and taped that key to the inside of his fridge.
The first result was Microsoft’s official page. He read it slowly, his stomach sinking.
Desperate, he grabbed his phone and finally typed the correct query:
That night, Leo’s laptop began to behave oddly. The fan whirred at full speed even when idle. A new icon appeared on his desktop: SystemRecovery . When he tried to delete it, it reappeared instantly.
