During a psychic attempt to restore Akira’s consciousness, Miko is dragged into his subconscious. There, she witnesses the eternal struggle between Akira’s pure human heart and the primal, ruthless demon lord Amon. As demons begin attacking the city in full force, the psychic ritual goes horribly wrong. Amon seizes control, breaking out of Akira’s body as a separate entity. The OVA culminates in a brutal confrontation between the now-human Akira and the unleashed Amon, set against the backdrop of humanity’s final, hopeless hours.

It serves as a direct sequel to the 1987 OVA Devilman: The Birth and the 1990 OVA Devilman: The Demon Bird . Unlike the softer television adaptations, this OVA returns to the ultra-violent, nihilistic tone of Go Nagai’s original 1972 manga, specifically adapting the final arc.
